In 2017, the COBRAcable interconnector project received capital support from the European Union under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF). The PCI factsheet records that the project was granted financial assistance linked to the TSO 2020 initiative, titled "Electric ‘Transmission and Storage Options’ along TEN-E and TEN-T corridors for 2020." The maximum amount of EU financial assistance approved for COBRAcable under this CEF support was EUR 7,063,700. This award represents non-repayable EU grant funding to co-finance project-related activities for the Denmark–Netherlands HVDC interconnector between Endrup (DK) and Eemshaven (NL).
