Réseau de Transport d’Electricité (RTE) has scheduled offshore construction works for the Centre Manche 2 HVDC connection, with installation of the jacket foundation for the project’s 1.25 GW HVDC offshore substation at the Centre Manche 2 site planned for 2030. The jacket, engineered and built by Smulders in collaboration with Eiffage Métal under contract from Chantiers de l’Atlantique, follows detailed structural and geotechnical design by SLPE and will weigh around 7,000 tonnes, marking the start of offshore construction for the HVDC converter platform serving the Centre Manche 2 wind farm.
