NorthConnect’s previously developed and consented HVDC connection infrastructure was used by the Cenos developers as the basis for Cenos’ planned grid connection. Cenos collaborated with NorthConnect to utilise NorthConnect’s DC cable routing (within 12 nautical miles) and the planned onshore converter station at Fourfields near Boddam, which has an agreed link into the Peterhead substation, to minimise additional new grid-connection infrastructure. In June 2025, the developers of the Cenos Offshore Windfarm (Flotation Energy and Vårgrønn) acquired NorthConnect; under Cenos’ ownership, NorthConnect was to continue operating as a distinct entity.
