Irish Rural Link (IRL) was appointed by EirGrid as the Celtic Interconnector Community Forum’s independent facilitator. The Community Forum was established to bring together people and organisations from across the project area so that stakeholder and community views on the Celtic Interconnector can be discussed, understood and properly considered by the project team. In this role, Irish Rural Link facilitated dialogue between stakeholders with diverse and direct interests in the project and EirGrid’s project team, supporting structured engagement both prior to and during project delivery. The forum’s purpose was to help ensure that local perspectives were captured and reflected in decision-making as the project progressed. As part of the Community Forum process, members were also to be invited to provide input on the design and implementation of the Celtic Interconnector Community Benefit Fund, linking stakeholder engagement activities with community benefit planning associated with the interconnector works in the project area.
