Subsea HVDC cable system for the 700 MW, 320 kV Celtic Interconnector between Ireland and France, with approximately 500 km of submarine route in the Celtic Sea and additional onshore sections in Ireland and France.
Asso.subsea, a Greek subsea contractor, was engaged by Nexans to support construction of the Celtic Interconnector by providing subsea cable burial operations. Working as a key subcontractor on Ireland’s first direct power connection to continental Europe, Asso.subsea is pooling resources with Nexans to trench and bury the HVDC subsea cables along the Celtic Sea route between Ireland and France, complementing Nexans’ own cable‑lay activities during the 2024–2026 offshore construction campaigns.
