In November 2025, after swapping stakes so that Shell became sole owner of the 2 GW CampionWind floating offshore wind project, Shell decided not to take the project forward and returned the ScotWind lease option for the site, located around 100 km off Scotland’s east coast, to Crown Estate Scotland, effectively cancelling the development.
