Development-stage FEED and cable system design for the export cable corridor connecting the Caledonia Offshore Wind Farm in the Moray Firth to landfall on the Aberdeenshire coast and onward grid connection near New Deer.
GHD was appointed by Ocean Winds to carry out the electrical front-end engineering design (FEED) for the initial phase of the Caledonia Offshore Wind Farm, including the export cable system that will form the Caledonia Transmission connection. The scope covers FEED for key electrical elements such as the subsea inter-array and export cables, the offshore high-voltage substation, power-system configuration, landfall and transition bays, onshore cabling, and associated substation equipment. Through this work, GHD is defining the technical concept and design parameters for the export cable route from the Caledonia offshore site in the Moray Firth to shore and onward grid connection, supporting Ocean Winds in the development-stage design and grid-connection strategy for the Caledonia Transmission assets.
