A pre-lay geophysical survey for the Caithness–Moray route was carried out in 2016 by MMT. The campaign comprised multibeam echo sounder, sub-bottom profiler, side-scan sonar and magnetometer surveys along the proposed cable route between Caithness and Portgordon to refine route alignment and inform pre-lay engineering.
