ABB won an order from Scottish Hydro Electric (SHE) Transmission to design, engineer, supply and commission the Caithness‑Moray HVDC link. The contract (announced 9 September 2014) covered two land‑based HVDC Light converter stations — a 1,200 MW station at Blackhillock and an 800 MW station at Spittal — and the submarine and underground cables for the subsea link. ABB’s award was presented as the main supply contract for converter equipment and associated system delivery for the project.
