The project cable was installed and commissioned in late summer 2017 by the cable supplier (NKT), completing the subsea cable installation phase of the Caithness‑Moray HVDC link. The installed HVDC submarine cable formed the core 113 km connection between the Spittal and Blackhillock converter stations.
