Semco Maritime was awarded a long-term balance-of-plant service contract by Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy GmbH & Co. KG for the Butendiek offshore wind farm. Under the agreement, Semco Maritime was responsible for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and above-water inspections on the offshore substation and its foundation, as well as on the 80 wind turbine generator foundations. The service package included structural inspections (including drone inspections), mandatory checks and certification activities, and other maintenance tasks, with staff approved for MV/HV switching on the substation and turbines. Project operations were to be executed primarily from Havneby on the Danish island of Rømø, with Siemens Gamesa retaining overall turbine maintenance and offshore logistics responsibility toward OWP Butendiek GmbH & Co. KG.
