In May–June 2014, the Butendiek offshore wind farm in the North Sea west of Sylt progressed with installation of the offshore substation foundation. The installation sequence was divided into two stages. First, the jacket foundation for the offshore substation was placed on the seabed and anchored using four piles driven into the ground, securing the structure as the base for the electrical platform. Following this foundation work, the substation topside was welded onto the installed jacket. The heavy lift vessel Rambiz was used to transport and install both the jacket foundation and the topside components at the Butendiek site, enabling the creation of the central offshore electrical hub required to collect and export power from the wind turbines to the onshore grid connection.
