On 10 February 2016, DONG Energy announced that it had partnered with Danish pension fund PKA and the LEGO Group’s investment company KIRKBI A/S to finance the 258 MW Burbo Bank Extension offshore wind farm in Liverpool Bay, with DONG constructing and operating the project and the new investors taking equity ownership alongside it, establishing the joint-venture structure later described as Ørsted 50%, PKA 25% and KIRKBI A/S 25%.
