BAM Nuttall worked in consortium with Siemens on the BritNed interconnector to construct and equip the two onshore HVDC converter stations at Isle of Grain in the UK and Maasvlakte in the Netherlands. While Siemens provided the HVDC technology, BAM Nuttall acted as the civil and installation partner for the converter stations, delivering construction works and installation support to bring both sites into service. This role covered the full build-out of the two converter stations during the project’s construction phase prior to BritNed’s commissioning in 2011.
