On 15 July 2015, Nexans announced it had been awarded a contract worth about €50 million by Statnett to design, manufacture, test and install two new 420 kV subsea cable systems in the Inner Oslofjord, including the Solberg–Brenntangen link that forms part of the Brenntangen–Solberg interconnector. The project uses Nexans’ XLPE subsea cable technology, with production at its Halden facility and installation using Statnett’s cable-laying vessel M/S Elektron and Nexans’ Capjet trenching system, with completion planned for 2018.
