On 15 July 2015, Statnett announced Nexans as the supplier for two new 420 kV subsea cable systems in Indre Oslofjord, including the Solberg (Hurum)–Brenntangen (Vestby) link, with Nexans to design, produce, test and support installation of seven individual PEX cables on this route using Statnett’s laying vessel M/S Elektron. The project, valued at about EUR 50 million and planned for completion in 2018, is intended to replace older cables from 1958 and 1975 and strengthen power supply in eastern Norway.
