420 kV Inner Oslofjord subsea interconnector Filtvet–Brenntangen (Brenntangen–Filtvet), seven parallel HVAC subsea cables forming part of Statnett’s Inner Oslofjord reinvestment project.
Nexans received a contract from Statnett to design, manufacture, test and install new 420 kV subsea cable systems for Statnett’s Inner Oslofjord power connection project, which includes the Filtvet–Brenntangen (Brenntangen–Filtvet) interconnector. The scope covers seven XLPE-insulated HVAC subsea cables on the Filtvet–Brenntangen link, with a route length of about 1.8 km and seven parallel cables, giving roughly 12.6 km of manufactured subsea cable. The cables are produced at Nexans’ Halden facility in Norway, then laid using Statnett’s cable-laying vessel M/S Elektron and protected by seabed trenching with Nexans’ Capjet system. The project, valued at around EUR 50 million for both Inner Oslofjord links combined, aims to replace ageing cable assets and reinforce security of supply in Eastern Norway.
