On 22 January 2024, Hrvatski operator prijenosnog sustava (HOPS) commenced works to replace the existing 110 kV submarine interconnector cable between the islands of Brač and Hvar, as part of a wider project also covering the Hvar–Korčula link. The activities include laying and jointing new, higher-capacity XLPE-insulated submarine and associated land cables, and removing the old oil-insulated cables, with works scheduled to continue until mid-June 2024 to improve security of supply and enable greater integration of renewable energy on the islands.
