BorWin4 ±320 kV HVDC export cable system between the offshore converter platform (BorWin delta) and the Hanekenfähr substation at Lingen, total route length ~280 km (about 125 km subsea and 155 km onshore) with 2 parallel cables (symmetric monopole). Prysmian contracted for design, supply, installation and commissioning of both land and submarine cable sections as part of a combined DolWin4/BorWin4 package.
Amprion Offshore GmbH awarded Prysmian Group a multi-project contract, worth more than €800 million in total, for the DolWin4 and BorWin4 offshore grid connection systems in the German North Sea. For BorWin4, Prysmian is responsible for the design, manufacture, supply, installation and commissioning of the ±320 kV HVDC export cable system, covering both the submarine and underground sections between the offshore converter platform and the Hanekenfähr substation at Lingen. The scope includes single-core copper XLPE-insulated HVDC cables and associated accessories, with offshore cable production in Pikkala (Finland) and Arco Felice (Italy) and land cable production in Gron (France) and Abbeville (USA). Based on the project configuration, Prysmian will supply about 250 km of subsea export cable and about 310 km of underground export cable for BorWin4, as part of an overall ~1,000 km package for DolWin4 and BorWin4 combined. Cable installation will be performed using Prysmian’s own state-of-the-art cable-laying vessels, with delivery and commissioning targeted for 2028.
