On 15 September 2022, Amprion Offshore GmbH awarded Prysmian Group a contract to design, supply, install, and commission the land and submarine HVDC cable systems for the BorWin4 offshore wind grid connection in the German North Sea, as part of a twin award that also covers DolWin4. Under the contracts, valued together at more than EUR 800 million, Prysmian will deliver approximately 1,000 km of ±320 kV single-core copper HVDC cables with XLPE insulation, including submarine sections routed from the offshore converter platforms through the Niedersächsisches Wattenmeer national park and across the island of Norderney to landfall near Hilgenriedersiel, and land cables running largely in parallel with the A-Nord underground corridor, with delivery and commissioning scheduled by 2028.
