Two infield HVAC cables of approximately 1.1 km each installed between the principal offshore platforms in the BorWin1 cluster, linking the offshore AC collection platform and the BorWin Alpha converter platform.
OMM secured a construction-phase contract from transpower for BorWin1 to install two infield HVAC power cables between the principal offshore platforms in the German North Sea. OMM’s scope covered end-to-end subsea cable installation works, including preparatory activities, J-tube and route inspections, topside preparations for pull-ins, pre-lay grapnel runs, laying and monitoring of the two approximately 1.1 km HVAC cables, post-lay burial to achieve adequate protection, and post-lay burial surveys with final reporting and charting. Operations were conducted from a DP2 vessel, with Hallin Marine and Modus engaged as subcontractors to provide specialised vessels and equipment. The contract focused on delivering the short inter-platform AC link integral to the BorWin1 offshore grid connection.
