BorWin Alpha, the offshore HVDC converter platform for the BorWin1 grid connection, was transported from the Vlissingen shipyard in the Netherlands to the German Bight and installed on its jacket structure using the SSCV Thialf at the end of May and beginning of June 2009, forming the offshore terminal of the ±150 kV, 400 MW link to Diele substation.
