In the 2017 and 2018 German offshore wind auctions run by the Federal Network Agency, Ørsted secured capacity awards for the three projects Borkum Riffgrund West 1, Borkum Riffgrund West 2 and OWP West, which were later consolidated as the 900 MW Borkum Riffgrund 3 offshore wind farm. The projects won with bids of EUR 0/MWh feed‑in tariff, making Borkum Riffgrund 3 the world’s first large‑scale offshore wind farm to be awarded on a zero‑subsidy basis under Germany’s auction regime.
