Offshore construction at Borkum Riffgrund 3 began on or around 15 December 2023 when Jan De Nul Group's next-generation heavy-lift installation vessel Les Alizés installed the first of 83 XXL monopile foundations at the project site 53 km north of the island of Borkum. The vessel had arrived on site in early December 2023 for the combined Borkum Riffgrund 3 and Gode Wind 3 monopile installation campaign — Borkum Riffgrund 3's portion comprises 83 monopiles, one per turbine, with no offshore-substation foundation (the project connects via direct 66 kV cables to TenneT's DolWin epsilon converter platform). Les Alizés went on to complete all 107 BR3+GW3 monopiles by December 2024, after which inter-array cable installation by Boskalis and turbine installation by Cadeler proceeded in parallel through 2024–2025.
