On 11 July 2017, EDF Energy Renewables reported that the first of the five gravity-based foundations for the 41.5 MW Blyth Offshore Demonstrator Project, built at the Neptune dry dock in Newcastle by Royal BAM Group, had begun its journey along the River Tyne, marking the start of offshore deployment of the innovative self-installing GBF structures.
