BiMEP (Biscay Marine Energy Platform) is an operational open-sea test site offshore of Armintza (Basque Country, Spain) with a total grid export capability of 20 MW, provided via four pre-consented berths of 5 MW each. Each berth is connected to shore by a dedicated three‑phase 13.2 kV submarine export cable (four 13.2 kV / 5 MW subsea cables total) to an onshore substation at Armintza. The onshore substation includes 13.2/132 kV transformation (25 MVA transformers) to connect into the national power grid; seabed water depths across the test area are stated as 50–90 m.
Landfall options
BiMEP is located off the coast north of Armintza; the submarine export cables connect to an onshore substation at Armintza.
Grid connection options
The onshore substation steps up from 13.2 kV to 132 kV for connection to the national power grid (no specific named TSO substation/POC stated in provided sources).
