Siemens was contracted by Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Ltd (BOWL) to supply, install and commission 84 SWT-7.0-154 (7 MW) offshore wind turbines for the 588 MW Beatrice offshore wind farm and to service the wind farm for 15 years. Siemens was also made responsible for the offshore grid connection to the mainland and for delivering the onshore and offshore substations, consisting of two offshore transformer modules (OTMs). The grid access solution was stated to be project managed and engineered from Siemens’ Energy Management Renewable Energy Engineering Centre in Manchester, with export cables delivered by consortium partner Nexans.
