APEM was awarded a contract by Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Ltd (BOWL) to carry out detailed marine benthic surveys for the Beatrice offshore wind farm and its export cable route in the Moray Firth. The scope comprised fieldwork, sample analysis and technical reporting, including seafloor grab sampling within the development area and use of a remotely operated vehicle and drop-down video system to investigate seabed features and habitats. APEM’s laboratories team analysed benthic faunal samples and underwater imagery, and the company produced technical reports covering benthic marine ecological and archaeological baseline surveys to inform impact assessments and post-construction monitoring.
