By April 2018 Nexans had completed key manufacturing milestones for the Beatrice OFTO export connection, including finishing production of the 220 kV offshore export cable at its Halden factory in Norway and loading the final section onto the cable-laying vessel Skagerrak for transport to the Moray Firth. In parallel, the first of the two 400 kV onshore cable links and associated high-voltage accessories for the Beatrice grid connection had been installed and successfully tested on site, marking substantial progress toward completing the transmission link to Blackhillock substation.
