By 9 October 2018, the Beatrice OFTO transmission system—comprising two 220 kV offshore export cable circuits of around 70 km each, two Siemens Offshore Transmission Modules, and the onshore 400/220 kV substation and 220 kV land cables to Portgordon—had been installed, energised and was already operational, exporting power from the Beatrice Offshore Wind Farm to the UK grid. Ofgem’s Tender Round 6 launch materials describe the OFTO assets as fully energised, operational and exporting power, with the twin‑circuit design providing security of supply and demonstrating the integrity of the transmission system ahead of final construction completion in Q4 2018.
