The Beatrice offshore transmission system reached full commercial operation by June 2019, when the 588 MW Beatrice Offshore Wind Farm, connected to shore via two 220 kV export cable circuits to landfall near Portgordon and on to the Blackhillock substation, was reported as fully operational and supplying clean energy to around 450,000 homes. The export cables and associated offshore and onshore transmission assets enabled continuous full‑capacity power export from the wind farm into the Scottish grid from this point.
