On the French side of the Bay of Biscay electricity interconnection between Cubnezais and Gatika, onshore construction formally began in October 2023 after RTE secured all required authorisations. These authorisations followed five years of consultation, validation of the Route of Least Impact by the French Ministry of the Energy Transition in September 2021, and two favourable public surveys. With work now underway, landfall construction is in progress at Le Porge in Gironde and at Seignosse and Capbreton in Landes, including phased micro‑tunnelling and pipe installation. In parallel, underground link works have started and earth‑moving activities are ongoing at the future converter station site in Cubnezais.
