NIRAS was contracted by Barrow Offshore Wind Limited (2011–2014) to prepare supporting information for a marine licence application covering emergency inter-array cable repairs at the Barrow Offshore Wind Farm. The scope included review of the Environmental Statement and monitoring reports, collaboration with the client’s cable engineers and GIS team to update the repair method statement, and documentation of baseline environmental conditions and expected environmental effects associated with potential repair works. NIRAS also contributed cable-risk assessment inputs, including probability assessments for cable damage using burial depth, fishing activity and vessel traffic (AIS) data, and identification of exposed sections along the cable route to inform potential remedial actions.
