By 11 February 2005, Oxford Archaeology North had completed the programme of archaeological fieldwork for the Barrow Offshore Wind Farm cable route at Middleton Sands and adjacent dry land near Heysham. Over three days, the team obtained eleven palaeoenvironmental sampling cores on the intertidal foreshore, carried out rapid walkover of a 200 m foreshore easement, and surveyed a 100 m wide corridor along approximately 3 km of the terrestrial cable route, concluding that no further palaeoenvironmental investigations were required due to limited archaeological potential and deep sand deposits.
