In 2015, Barrow Offshore Wind Farm initiated a major refurbishment campaign to replace flooring in the offshore substation and all 30 turbines. DONG Energy, the owner and operator, awarded Barrow‑based Elevated Systems Technology (EST) Ltd a contract to install new flooring, with materials supplied by Firbergrate Composite Structure Ltd and a locally based vessel transporting personnel and equipment. Work was already underway at the time of the announcement and was scheduled for completion by the beginning of October 2015, representing a significant planned maintenance intervention during operations.
