Survey Other Start

Following completion of construction in July 2006, Barrow Offshore Wind Farm undertook a three‑year post‑construction environmental monitoring programme, with the first year of surveys carried out in 2006–2007. The work included fishery surveys, benthic and sediment contaminant sampling, operational underwater noise measurements, oceanographic wake studies, bathymetry and scour surveys around turbines, side‑scan sonar and archaeological assessments along the wind farm and export cable route, and extensive ornithological (bird) monitoring. Results from this first year indicated no major or unforeseen environmental impacts from the operational wind farm.
