In 2002, Wessex Archaeology completed a desk-based environmental and archaeological assessment for the Barrow Offshore Wind Farm, examining the offshore development area 21.8 km off the Lancashire coast and the cable route landfall towards Heysham. This Environmental Assessment Technical Report: Archaeology identified known sites and the potential for archaeological remains from the Neolithic through modern periods and informed later fieldwork along the proposed cable route.
