On 20 May 2025, Italy’s Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security (MASE) issued Decree DM_2025-0000281 granting a positive Environmental Impact Assessment (VIA) decision for the 1,110 MW Barium Bay floating offshore wind farm in the southern Adriatic, including its grid connection works, making it the largest floating offshore wind project in Italy and the Mediterranean to obtain such a decree and allowing it to participate in the FER2 Contract for Difference auction for offshore wind.
