ITW Densit carried out offshore grouting works for the tripile foundation installation scope at the BARD Offshore 1 offshore wind farm in the German Bight (North Sea). The company reported that it had completed the grouting of the last of the project’s 80 foundations, indicating its involvement across the full set of tripile units installed for the wind farm. Over the course of the project ITW Densit grouted 240 pile/sleeve connections for BARD’s patented tripile foundations, connecting 3.35 m diameter piles to the connecting crosspieces in line with the certified design. The works used ITW Densit’s UHPC grouting material Ducorit® S5, selected for its fatigue resistance and rapid strength development. The report stated this enabled fast installation and curing, helping the installation vessel avoid waiting time during the construction sequence. ITW Densit’s supervisors executed offshore mixing and pumping operations using specialised equipment and also supported technical activities connected to the German approval process (Z.i.E.) for the grouting scope. The announcement date for completion of the final foundation grouting was 10 September 2013.
