Following extensive technical problems, including compatibility issues between power from BARD Offshore 1 and ABB’s BorWin 1 HVDC converter platform that forced the project to idle for most of 2014, the wind farm achieved stable operation in 2015. Availability subsequently improved to industry-standard levels, enabling high cash flow and positioning the project to repay its project finance debt within a typical offshore wind timeframe.
