Major Outage

In late March 2014, the BARD Offshore 1 wind farm suffered a major outage after frequent technical problems at the converter substation culminated in a smouldering fire that caused preliminary failure of the system. As a result, the 400MW project 100km off the German North Sea coast was taken out of operation, with recommissioning initially planned for June 2014 but subsequently postponed and the wind farm remaining non-operational until further notice as of late June 2014.
