Through a multi‑criteria site selection study of Turkey’s coasts, researchers identified the Bandırma coastline in the Sea of Marmara as one of the most suitable areas for offshore wind farm development. This work effectively designated Bandırma as a prime offshore wind development zone alongside Bozcaada, Gökçeada, İnebolu, and Samandağ.
