GE Vernova, as part of the GE Vernova–Seatrium consortium, was awarded a contract by TenneT for the BalWin5 2.2 GW HVDC grid connection in the German North Sea. GE Vernova’s Electrification Systems business was expected to deliver the complete HVDC technology, including control and protection systems, and to deliver the onshore converter station at Bremen-Werderland and the offshore converter station. Commissioning for BalWin5 was planned for 2032.
