Baltica 9 (marketed post-acquisition as Baltica 9+) is a consolidated offshore wind cluster on the western Słupsk Bank in the Polish Baltic Sea combining PGE’s 975 MW Baltica 9 concession (area 44.E.1) with the adjacent FEW Baltic II project (originally ~350 MW under RWE). Together the assets for...

By 12 March 2026, PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna had fulfilled the conditions of its earlier conditional agreement and completed the acquisition of the FEW Baltic II offshore wind project from RWE, thereby taking over the 350 MW project to combine it with the 975 MW Baltica 9 site into the Baltica 9+ complex of about 1.3 GW. The transaction makes PGE the developer of both Baltica 9 and FEW Baltic II and is intended to capture economies of scale and support PGE’s 4 GW offshore wind target for 2035.
In 2025, PGE Baltica (PGE Group) took over a neighbouring offshore wind project area previously developed by RWE and combined it with its Baltica 9 area, creating the larger Baltica 9+ project with an expected total capacity of about 1.3 GW by 2032, which underpins the planned combined development of these offshore areas.
PGE’s 975 MW Baltica 9 offshore wind project obtained preliminary grid connection conditions, confirming that the project has secured initial terms for connection of the wind farm in area 44.E.1 to the Polish transmission network, supporting further development of the Baltica 9+ cluster towards planned commissioning by 2032.

On 17 December 2025, Elektrownia Wiatrowa Baltica 9 sp. z o.o., a PGE subsidiary developing the 975 MW Baltica 9 offshore wind farm in area 44.E.1 on the western Słupsk Bank, secured a two‑sided Contract for Difference (CfD) in Poland’s first offshore wind auction AMFW/1/2025. The CfD grants the right to cover a negative balance for electricity fed into the grid over a 25‑year period at a net strike price of PLN 489/MWh and underpins project revenues ahead of the planned commercial operation date of 17 December 2032.
The 2D UHRS geophysical campaign for Baltica 9, performed by Geofizyka Toruń S.A., was completed, with offshore measurements from May to mid‑June 2025 followed by analytical work and delivery of results around November 2025; PGE later reported that these geophysical surveys for basin 44.E.1 had been conducted as part of project preparations.
On 25 November 2025, Elektrownia Wiatrowa Baltica 9 sp. z o.o., a PGE Group company, signed a conditional agreement to acquire 100% of the shares in RWE Offshore Wind Poland sp. z o.o., the company developing the approximately 350 MW FEW Baltic II offshore wind farm adjacent to Baltica 9, and simultaneously concluded an asset purchase agreement with Carmagnola and RWE Offshore Wind Poland to obtain Environmental Decision No. 12/2025 for the generation part of area 44.E.1, together with the associated EIA report and environmental data. These transactions are intended to create synergies between FEW Baltic II and Baltica 9, enabling development of the combined Baltica 9+ cluster of around 1.3 GW and accelerating Baltica 9 by several years.
PGE Baltica signed a contract with a Polish consortium of Geo Ingenieurservice Polska and Baltic Diving Solutions to perform a specialist geophysical survey of the Baltica 9 seabed focused on detecting unexploded ordnance and shallow gas and issuing ALARP certificates for future geotechnical locations, with the campaign scheduled to take place in the third quarter of 2025.
The Environmental Impact Assessment for the generating part of the Baltica 9 offshore wind farm in area 44.E.1 was approved through Environmental Decision No. 12/2025 issued on 27 June 2025, providing the key environmental consent needed for the project to participate in Poland’s first offshore auction and proceed with further development.
PGE Baltica contracted Geofizyka Toruń S.A. to carry out a 2D ultra‑high‑resolution geophysical survey, including high‑resolution reflection seismic and simultaneous bathymetric measurements, for the Baltica 9 site in the northern Słupsk Bank, with offshore measurements scheduled to start in the first half of May 2025.
In 2023, PGE was awarded the location permit for basin 44.E.1 on the western part of the Słupsk Bank, securing the 121 km² offshore area about 48 km from shore that will host the 975 MW Baltica 9 offshore wind farm within one of five areas granted to PGE.
