On 16 April 2020, the Clean Energy for EU Islands Secretariat, through consultants 3E, issued a technical note providing a high-level assessment of installing an undersea electric grid cable between the Azores islands of Pico and Faial and recommending further studies to develop this inter-island connection project, as part of technical advisory services initiated under a 2019 call for proposals.
