A second offshore geotechnical investigation campaign for Awel y Môr started on 12 May 2026, with operations scheduled to run until 15 June 2026 subject to weather and sea conditions. The campaign is being executed by GEO (Denmark) using the Multi Purpose Offshore Vessel Connector (Danish flag, 90.2 m LOA, red hull and white superstructure). Work is conducted under Marine Licence RML 2576 and comprises Cone Penetration Tests (CPT), Seismic Cone Penetration Tests (SCPT) and vibrocoring within the proposed wind farm array area off the north Wales coast. The campaign is distinct from Fugro's earlier November 2023 to May 2024 ground investigation, which drilled 53 boreholes for foundation characterisation across Mercia Mudstone geology, and forms part of the post-CfD AR7 site investigation programme ahead of Awel y Môr's Final Investment Decision and the planned 2027 onshore construction start. A complementary geophysical survey using the Ramform Vanguard is scheduled to begin at the site on 25 May 2026.
