Fugro completed the offshore ground investigation site works for RWE’s Awel y Môr offshore wind farm in North Wales in May 2024, finishing a November 2023–May 2024 winter campaign that drilled 53 boreholes over about 130 days to characterise seabed and subsurface rock conditions for turbine foundations, after which laboratory testing and reporting continued. The works were executed using a jack-up barge and bespoke testing methodologies to manage challenging winter metocean conditions and complex Mercia Mudstone geology.
