For the Nea Makri–Polypotamos 150 kV AC submarine and underground cable interconnection linking South Evia to the Attica region (Attica–Evia 1), the contract signed in May 2010 specified that the project was scheduled to be completed within 36 months, implying full operational readiness around 2013 to enable the export of about 400 MW of wind power from South Evia into the mainland transmission grid and to reinforce the electrification of eastern Attica.
