Description
LS Cable & System is the designated sole supplier of the HVDC subsea cable system for the Atlantic SuperConnection interconnector between Iceland and the UK. Under a framework agreement signed with ASC Energy plc, LS Cable & System will provide around 3,500 km of HVDC cable for the project, corresponding to the manufactured length required for the two parallel 1,708 km bipole cables. The company will supply cable produced at a new UK factory on the River Tyne, with Atlantic SuperConnection’s cable supply contract acting as the anchor order for this investment. LS Cable & System’s role covers engineering and manufacture of the high‑voltage direct current subsea export cables that will transmit up to 1.8 GW of power between the two countries, supporting the project from late development into the construction phase.
