JD Contractor A/S was awarded a contract by cooperative-owned utility SEAS-NVE Holding to install 10 kV submarine power cables serving the island area between Lolland, Askø, Lilleø and Femø in Denmark, covering subsea cable installation works for this internal grid connection scheme.
SEAS-NVE reported that in 2014 it would replace the subsea cable serving Askø, Lilleø and Femø, indicating planned completion of a new submarine cable installation connecting these islands within that year.
Energy company SEAS-NVE plans to establish new submarine power and fibre cables in Smålandsfarvandet, including the Askø–Lilleø link, with the Lolland–Askø, Askø–Lilleø and Lilleø–Femø sea cables all scheduled to be laid within the same year as part of a wider renovation of the islands’ electricity network. This programme will replace cables first installed in 1966 and provide Askø and Lilleø with improved supply security and modern digital connectivity.
